Alcuni aspetti teologici dell’Apocalisse in Vittorino di Petovio

Abstract

This examination of the reception of the Apocalypse is very stimulating. This article attempts to present the theological interpretation of the book of Revelation given by Victorinus of Petovium (III-IV century). In Apocalypsin Johannis is the earliest commentary on the last biblical book. This Latin writer explores some interesting aspects of the Apocalypse of John as well as a rich variety of apocalyptic and theological themes. Victorinus indicates that the last book of the Bible is a convenient „illustrative file” and a source of enlightenment to theology. This conviction appears in various occasions of his commentary. Victorinus interpreted Revelation of St John in millenarist terms and remains faithful to the traditional interpretation, as well as in modest allegorical rules.

Analizowanie przesłania Apokalipsy kanonicznej zawsze jest bardzo inspirujące. Artykuł stara się przybliżyć teologiczną interpretację tej księgi, którą prezentuje Wiktoryn z Petowium (III-IV wiek). To jemu zawdzięczamy pierwszy komentarz do ostatniej księgi NT. Autor należał bez wątpienie do zwolenników tradycyjnych schematów milenarystycznych, chociaż potrafił wykorzystać różnorodność apokaliptycznej i teologicznej tematyki księgi Objawienia. Wiktoryn wskazuje, że ostatnia księga Biblii to użyteczne źródło przenośni i opisów rzucających światło na kwestie teologiczne. To przekonanie daje się zauważyć w różnych częściach jego komentarza.
