In this chapter I analyse Polish folk revival music, and the alternative concepts and terms describing folklore and folk music emerging within it. I wonder about the social and ideological contexts of the development of this movement as well as the characteristic change in the terms used by its representatives. Using the newer theories, according to which the tradition is dynamic and depends on the continuous reinterpretation of cultural patterns, I try to show that the contemporary municipal musicians that play old rural music are, in fact, the next generation of folk singers and instrumentalists who continue and grow the tradition received from their predecessors.pl
