Abstract

This sketchy outline is dedicated to the part of Prof. Witold Warkałło’s career path – a distinguished civil law scholar, the precursor of Polish insurance law school. The Author brings to focus his role and achievements in the area of Roman law studies in the period of 1958–1962, when he presided over the Chair of Roman Law of NCU Toruń. Extensive use of archival sources allowed to shed light on numerous little known, or completely forgotten episodes and facts in this enourmously accomplished scholar’s career.
