Abstract

Artykuł jest swobodną podróżą w czasie i przestrzeni, której pretekstem i punktem wyjścia są pewne kwestie językowe w zakresie podobnie brzmiących określeń: ‘scjentolog’, ‘scjentysta’ (wyłączny zwolennik metod nauk przyrodniczych) i ‘scjentysta’ (nazwa członka grupy Nauka Chrześcijańska – Christian Science). Autorzy przechodzą następnie do innych zbliżonych brzmieniowo grup religijnych: antoiniści’ i ‘antonianie’. Tłumaczą znaczenia terminów: ‘antynomiści’ i ‘adamianie’. Pewne problemy sprawia także nazewnictwo ugrupowania określanego jako ‘Rodzina Miłości’ – istnieją dwie niezależne grupy posługujące się tą samą nazwą. Jest tu także miejsce na różne inne problemy pisowni nazw własnych w języku polskim.

The article is a free journey in time and space. Its pretext and starting point are certain language issues in the sphere of terms having similar sounds: ‘Scientologist’, ‘scientist’ (exclusive follower of natural science’s methods) and ‘Scientist’ (a description of a member of Christian Science group). The authors turn to other similarly sounding religious groups: ‘Antoinists’, ‘Antonians’. They explain the meaning of such concepts as ‘Antinomians’ and ‘Adamians’. There are certain problems with terminology applying to a group described as ‘The Family of Love’ – there are two independent groups using the same name. There is also a place for other different problems of proper names’ spelling in Polish language.
