This educational material presents a standardized protocol for the macroscopic examination of skin specimens, designed for pathology residents. The content discusses in detail the key stages of working with a specimen, ranging from verifying patient data and surgical orientation to the precise measurement of lesions. The authors place great emphasis on the proper inking of surgical margins and the tissue sectioning technique, both of which directly impact the quality of digital scans and the final diagnosis. It is also explained how the serial cross-sectioning method and attention to detail during the pre-processing stage ensure the clarity of the microscopic image. The text is complemented by practical visual cues that facilitate the understanding of the three-dimensional structure of samples and the correct documentation of neoplastic features. The document highlights that precision at the macroscopic workstation constitutes an essential foundation for modern pathomorphological diagnostics and digital processes.
