METODA RÓWNOWAGI REFLEKSYJNEJ (REFLECTIVE EQUILIBRIUM) W FILOZOFII POLITYKI

Abstract

CELE NINIEJSZEGO ARTYKUŁU to zaprezentowanie i analiza jednej z najbardziej popularnych obecnie metod w filozofii polityki – tzw. metody równowagi refleksyjnej (dalej RR). Abstrahując od historii powstania i aplikacji tej metody do filozofii polityki, podjęte zostaną jedynie zagadnienia związane z jej działaniem, praktycznym zastosowaniem, statusem i mocą poznawczą. Artykuł ten ma charakter metodologiczny oraz analityczny, a jego celem jest instruktaż w użyciu metody; z tego względu czyni on metodę RR przedmiotem badania w oderwaniu od jej historycznego kontekstu.THE AIM OF the essay is to present and analyse one of the most well-recognized and ubiquitously deployed method in political philosophy, namely the method of reflective equilibrium. The focus and scope of the article is a practical employment of the method to solve such real life moral quandaries as an abortion problem or more thought-experimental conundrums as the trolley paradox. The author contends that what is recognized as so-called wide reflective equilibrium is of a particular merit for moral reasoning, especially by virtue of the background theories’ contribution to the upshot of the procedure in question.
