Abstract

Artykuł przedstawia dziewiętnastowieczny Toruń jako multilingwalną wspólnotę komunikacyjną. Autorka sięga po teorie z zakresu socjologii miasta i socjolingwistyki, pozwalające pomóc znaleźć drogę do wyjaśnienia języka i jego odmian jako elementu konstytuującego wspólnotę miejską. Opiera się przy tym na teoriach Gumperza, Łotmana, Assmannów.The article presents the Toruń of the nineteenth century as a multilingual communicative community. The author uses several theories of urban sociology and sociolinguistics (especially by Gumperz, Łotman and the Assmans) with a view to explain the language and its variations as an element that constitutes urban communities.
