Edukacja ogólna według Theodore’a Bramelda. Od przeszłości do przyszłości

Abstract

The article presents the understanding of general education in Theodore Brameld’s social reconstructionism. After giving a short sketch of basic information on reconstructionism in the introduction, the authors focus on the relations between education and culture in perennialism and reconstructionism. The main issues analyzed in the text are the frontier areas in educational theory and practice; that is, the disciplines of knowledge indispensable for comprehensive understanding of education. Acquiring of that knowledge constitutes, according to Brameld, the base of general education in teachers’ preparation for work. The article ends with emphasizing the originality of Brameld’s attitude to general education.

Artykuł przedstawia rozumienie edukacji ogólnej w rekonstrukcjonizmie społecznym Theodore’a Bramelda. Po prezentacji we wstępie podstawowych informacji na temat rekonstrukcjonizmu, autorzy skupiają się na związkach edukacji i kultury w perenializmie oraz rekonstrukcjonizmie. Głównym zagadnieniem analizowanym w tekście są obszary graniczne teorii i praktyki edukacyjnej, to znaczy dyscypliny wiedzy niezbędne do całościowego zrozumienia edukacji. Przyswojenie sobie tej wiedzy stanowi, według Bramelda, podstawę edukacji ogólnej w przygotowaniu nauczycieli do pracy. Artykuł kończy się zwróceniem uwagi na nowatorstwo podejścia Bramelda do edukacji ogólnej.
