Niezadowolenie z wyglądu studentek UMK i TWSP w Toruniu jako jeden z elementów gotowości anorektycznej.

Abstract

Praca ma na celu charakterystykę stopnia niezadowolenia z wyglądu ciała oraz poszczególnych elementów sylwetki u młodych kobiet, kontynuujących naukę na UMK w Toruniu oraz w Toruńskiej Wyższej Szkole Przedsiębiorczości. Analizowane dane pochodziły z pomiarów antropometrycznych i ankietowych 361 kobiet. Materiał został zebrany w okresie od stycznia 2008 do stycznia 2011. W badaniach wykorzystano skalę obrazkową własnego autorstwa, opracowaną na podstawie pomiarów wielkości morfologicznych. Jedną z miar niezadowolenia był wskaźnik rozbieżności rozumiany jako różnica pomiędzy numerem sylwetki uznanej za najbardziej atrakcyjną a sylwetką wskazaną jako najbardziej podobna do własnej. Wskaźnik ten mógł przybierać wartość bezwzględną od 0 do 5. Badane kobiety deklarowały chęć zmian w swoim wyglądzie, jednakże stopień niezadowolenia z budowy ciała był niewielki. Średnia wartość bezwzględnej wartości wskaźnika rozbieżności wynosiła 0,96 a w przeważającej liczbie przypadków wynosił 1 lub 0. Kobiety oceniały swój wygląd najczęściej jako przeciętny (46,1%) lub dobry (42,8%). Spośród dziewięciu wybranych cech sylwetki, badane najbardziej zadowolone były ze swojej wysokości ciała i wyglądu całych nóg, najwięcej zastrzeżeń kierowały pod adresem wyglądu brzucha oraz ud. Kobiety wykazujące skrajnie negatywne nastawienie do swojego ciała jako całości oraz masy ciała stanowiły marginalną część badanej grupy.

The study aimed at determining the degree of dissatisfaction with general appearance and particular body parts in young women continuing their education at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the Toruń Higher School of Entrepreneurship. The analysed data were obtained with the use of anthropometric measurements and questionnaires conducted among 361 women. The material was collected in the period between January 2008 and January 2011. The study applied the author’s pictorial scale prepared on the basis of morphological value measurements. One of the applied dissatisfaction measurements was a discrepancy index understood as a difference between the number attributed to the body shape considered the most attractive and that indicated as the most similar to the respondents’ own bodies. The absolute value of the index ranged from 0 to 5. The researched women declared their desire to introduce changes in their appearance; nonetheless the degree of dissatisfaction with their figures was rather insignificant. The mean value of the discrepancy index reached 0.96, and in most cases it amounted to 1 or 0. The women usually evaluated their appearance as average (46.1%) or good (42.8%). Among the selected nine body features the respondents tended to be the most satisfied with their body height and the appearance of their legs as a whole, whereas their main objections were related to abdomen and thighs. Women reflecting a radically negative attitude towards their bodies as a whole and their body mass constituted a marginal part of the researched group.
