"Великие" представители малых общин

Abstract

SMALL COMMUNITIES AND THEIR „BIG NAMES” Abstract Despite of many existing definitions of cultural identity, most of the sources indicate its several essential elements: language, religion, nationality or ethnicity, traditions, history of the group shared by its members, feeling of the inner integrity of the group and differences from the surroundings. While bigger societies and diasporas have institutional and administrative suport for their culture, smaller communities, e.g. language and cultural islands experience many difficulties to maintain their identity. The role of elites (writers, poets, social and political activists, painters and other artists) is also important. However, Russian diaspora can be proud of its famous representatives, such as Nobel Prize winners, the situation of small communities, e.g. Old Believers in Poland and Baltic States, is more difficult, while their leaders and elites are usually recognizable only inside the community. The article presents some examples from the smallest Old Believer communities in Estonia and Poland, showing their role inside the group and from the perspective of the whole country.

«ВЕЛИКИЕ» ПРЕДСТАВИТЕЛИ МАЛЫХ ОБЩИН Резюме Несмотря на большое количество дефиниций культурной идентичности, некоторые её элементы повторяются независимо от источника: язык, вероисповедование, национальность или этничность, традиции, разделяемая всеми членами общины история группы, сознание групповой интегральности и отличияот окружения. Большие общетва и диаспоры благодаря административной и институциональной поддержке не испытывают таких проблем в сохранении своей культуры, как маленькие общины, а в частности язковые и культурные острова. В данном плане важна роль элит (писателей, поэтов, социальных и политических деятелей, художников и артистов). В то время как русская диаспора может похвастаться многими выдающимися представителями мирового масштаба, как напр. лауреаты Нобелевской премии, элиты небольших общин, к которым принадлежат старообрядцы Польши и Балтии, известны прежде всегов рамках своей группы. В статье представлены примеры представителей самых маленьких староверских обшин в Эстонии и Польше, а также указана их роль с внутренней и внешней перспективы.
