Abstract
The institutions of the East Syrian Church developed directly from earliest Palestinian Christianity. This community took root in the Persian Empire. Nestorian Christology was adopted as the official teaching of this Church in 5th century. The Assyrian Church flourished for many centuries, expanding through missionary activity into India, China and Mongolia. In the late 14th century then been reduced to isolate communities.
