The entry of Kenryaku 2 (1212).11.2 in Azuma Kagami provides a brief description of eawase. This kind of refined event originally held at the Heian court was, however, organized by the samurai class as well. This paper discusses an eawase held by shogun Sanetomo, its course and theme of contest’s entries. |
