Abstract

Systemy Informacji Geograficznej spełniają wyjątkową rolę w budowie społeczeństwa informacyjnego w Polsce i na świecie. Kluczowym elementem rozwoju społeczeństwa informacyjnego jest edukacja informatyczna oraz powszechny dostęp do informacji. Rolę ośrodków edukacyjnych w zakresie GIS-u, oprócz uczelni wyższych, mogą pełnić nowoczesne Centra Badawczo-Szkoleniowe. Przykładem takiego ośrodka jest powstałe w 2005 roku Kujawsko-Pomorskie Centrum Badawczo-Szkoleniowe Systemów Informacji Geograficznej w Toruniu. W artykule przedstawiono genezę, założenia oraz ofertę szkoleniową Centrum GIS.

Geographical Information Systems play a special role in the creation of informational society in Poland and in the world. In this new kind of economy the basic role is shifted to information and informational technology. The key element for the development of the informational society is informational education and common access to information. Apart from high schools, modern researching-training centers may play educational role in the field of GIS. The example of such an institution is Researching-Training Centre of Geographical Information Systems which was created in 2005, in Toruń, Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodship. The history, assumptions, and a training offer of this Centre will be presented in this paper.
