Abstrakt:
The article is devoted to three editions of emigrant letters: "Kulisy twórczości. Listy 14 pisarzy emigracyjnych do Juliusza Sakowskiego" ("The Coulisse of Creation. Letters of 14 emigrant writers to Juliusz Sakowski", 1979), "Potwierdzone istnienie. Archiwum Stefanii Zahorskiej" ("Confirmed existence. The archive of Stefania Zahorska",1988) and "Z listów do Mieczysława Grydzewskiego 1946–1966"
("Selected letters to Mieczysław Grydzewski 1946–1966", 1990). The author analyzes them in the perspective of content and editorial solutions adopted in them (selection and composition of letters, omissions, critical apparatus). In addition, the author tracks their reception and importance for research of the emigrant literature and the literary life. On the basis of this, he is reconstructing the attitude to epistolography for emigrants and researchers. In conclusion, first editions of letters by emigrant writers, journalists and editors are an important reference point for contemporary editions and they are still very useful for researchers.
