Abstrakt:
This paper is an attempt to present Andrey Muravyov’s impressions of his
journey to the South of Italy and to prove that the writer perceived the region through various
senses. In Rome Muravyov paid attention especially to the Christian monuments, while
in Campania the remains of the ancient culture and the local nature came into prominence.
The voyager was partial to the sacral objects of Campania as well (the journey seemed to
be a pilgrimage). However the reports on them in the work analyzed are less extensive than
the reports on his visiting of the churches of Rome.
