Since 2013, jogging has become the most popular physical activity among Poles,
which resulted in the increasing number of people taking part in running events
and strong competition among the organizers of such events. The main objective
of the study was to determine which of socio-demographic, psychological
and economic characteristics are typical of sports tourism participants in the
mountain area. The research method was an online survey; more than two
hundred runners completed the questionnaire and sent it back. The data thus
obtained were used to create the profile of the participant of running events in
the mountain area (i.e. active sports tourist) and to conduct market segmentation.
