Abstract

The article presents a comperative analysis of Black earths and Mucky soils found in the Brodnica Landscape Park. It refers to the use value of these soils. Fine soil profiles located in the south-west part of the Park have been selected for detailed examination. Black earths and Mucky soils cover a small part of the study area, and are mostly used for agricultural purposes. It was found that only deciduous trees (mainly oak, birch and alder) should be used in the afforestation of Mucky soils. Pine should be avoided due to both ecological and economic points of view. The authors also present a concept of Black earths catena.
